Habitat: Rock and debris deserts. Diurnal
Size: up to 40 cm
Life Expectancy: over 15 years
Reproduction: lays generally 6-11 eggs. Incubation period of 110 days at 30°C.
Temperature: air temperature 30-35°C, local heatspots up to 45°C. Night setback to room temperature.
Humidity: 40-70%
Lighting: Daylight fluorescent tubes, if necessary UV tubes (see "Sorry Link missing"). For sufficient UV radiation we recommend "Sorry Link missing" or "Sorry Link missing". "Sorry Link missing" for the creation of local heat spots. Species needs a strong illumination. If necessary the use of HQI lamps or T5 fluorescent tubes is recommended.
Substrate: loamy soil with rock structures, "Sorry Link missing".
Cage Furniture: hideouts, stones, roots, climbing facilities, a flat water bowl. Cage substrate should always be slightly wet in one spot.
food: Mainly vegetarian food like dandelion, ribwort, clover, lucerne, corn salad, cress, various germ buds sprouts etc., but also carrots, paprika, zucchini or tomatoes (hackled and rasped) additionally fodder mixtures consisting of lentils, rice, peas, oatmeal, various grains etc. Every now and then some insects (e.g. large crickets, grasshoppers, cockroaches, super mealworms, wax moths, etc.) also products from the "Sorry Link missing" and "Sorry Link missing"
. Regular additions of "Sorry Link missing" and "Sorry Link missing" are necessary.
Comment: The inner-species aggression for this species is extremely high, therefore single-keeping is strongly advised. Uromastyx benti is often tended to hot and to dry in respect to temperature and humidity respectively.
