Geographical Extension: east-Africa (Tanzania)
Habitat: montane rainforests in heights of 1400-2200m above sea level with an annual rainfall of 1500-2500mm. The natural habit is characterized by extreme variations in temperature. Diurnal.
Size: about 24cm
Life Expectancy: approx. 8 years
Reproduction: viviparous species, gives birth to up to 30 offspring after a 7- to 10-month pregnancy.
Temperature: air temperature between 22-28°C, locally up to 35°C. If possible a night-time temperature drop to 10°C. But at least 15°C are recommended.
Humidity: 60-90%
Lighting: Daylight fluorescent tubes, if necessary UV tubes (see "Sorry Link missing"). For sufficient UV radiation we recommend "Sorry Link missing" or "Sorry Link missing". "Sorry Link missing" for the creation of local heat spots. Species needs a strong illumination.
Substrate: loose, absorptive substrate (see "Sorry Link missing").
Cage Furniture: climbing facilities, blinds for back and rear panels, planting is possible (Ficus benjamina, Scindapsus sp., Epipremnium sp., Hoya sp., etc.). Many hiding places. Good air circulation is required! A dripper is recommended (see "Sorry Link missing")
