Q:The humidity does not go over 80-85% though I believe it is much higher in reality
A:The sensor could be defect. You can test its performance by wrapping it into a wet towel. If it does not show 90%+ within 10 minuten, please contact our customer service for a sensor change.

Lamp Life Issues
Lamps are failing quickly
Q:My lamps are always failing after a short time. What is the reason?
A:There are a lot of reasons why a lamp can fail quickly including bad electrical contact, shock damage, overheating and a too high voltage.

Average Lamp Life not reached
Q:My lamps do not reach the lamp life stated on the packaging. Am I making something wrong?
A:In general lamp life statements on the packaging refer to an average lamp life. That means it can always happen that some lamps surpass the average lamp life while others do not reach it. If your lamps are failing on regular basis before the average lamp life is reached you should check the installation. Most critical is the distance to the illuminated surface and the electrical contact of the lampholder. Please consider also the other FAQ entries for "Lamp Life issues" as they might explain your problem in detail.

Better Lamp
Q:I am looking for a lamp that will last longer in my terrarium. What can I do?
A:You should pay attention that the lamp and its wattage is suitable for your vivarium. Often the vivarium is too small and the distance to the bottom is not enough to maintain the required minimum distance for the lamp. The lamp will overheat and fail quickly. In this case you should use a lower wattage or switch to another lamp type. On our packaging you will find details to the necessary minimum distance and the temperatures that can be expected at given distances, to help you with the choice. For giving a more specific advise we would need more information on the used lamp, the vivarium size, etc. You can send us an inquiry through the contact form.

Problems with Lampholder
Q:My lampholder is getting very hot and the lamps are failing quickly and often. What could be the reason?
A:That sounds like a case of bad electrical contact, e.g. at the cable connection. In this case the lampholder pulls a lot of current to maintain the voltage. This causes the lamp to fail quicker as it is not designed for high currents and the temperature is rising. You should have your installation checked by a qualified electrician.

Bright Sun
Bright Sun general
Q:What is the Bright Sun?
A:The Bright Sun is a metal halode lamp and currently resembles the most modern technology for UV lamps. Metal halide lamps need a special ballast for operation but are extremely enery efficient. The lighting characteristics of metal halides are close to natural sunlight. The Bright Sun offers UV and heat radiation and excels with a high light output which is 5 times higher than self ballasted mercury vapour lamps. This makes the Bright Sun the first lamp which truly can satisfy all reptile lightings needs in one lamp.

Bright Control PRO makes a high noise
Q:The ballast makes a very high, constant sound. Is this normal?
A:In general electronic ballasts for HID lamps emit a high frequency noise which some humans consider distrurbing. Should the noise be very loud, it can be due to an external interference, e.g. by another ballast. In addition you should check the cable connections: connectors on both sides (including cable positioning inside the connectro) as well as the cable connection at the ballast and the lampholder. The lamp must be screwed in properly. Bad contacts can increase the noise significantly.
